Yorbita Staff and Principal Cadena Take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Just days before the first day of school, Yorbita Elementary Principal Sylvia Cadena surprised her staff by agreeing to do the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge."

"I had a great time doing this! I loved how it brought my staff together for a good cause and for us to have fun AND cool off!"

People across the country have been taking the challenge to raise awareness and funds for Lou Gehrig's disease (also known as ALS).  "The fundraising phenomenon asks those willing to douse themselves to challenge others to do the same within 24 hours. If they don't, they must make a donation to a certain charity. Each person who participates nominates more friends, who nominate more friends, who nominate still more friends, which explains why the trend has exploded." HuffingtonPost.com
